John Lee WINS Forgotten Coast Kayak Fishing Classic!

April 1, 2008

John Lee and the Emotion Kayaks Fishing Team scored another victory at the Forgotten Coast Classic in Medart, FL.  Advantage Marine hosted the captains meeting Friday night but the 100 plus anglers soon spread out at first light on Saturday morning with open waters extending from Cape San Blas to Steinhatchee.

Team Emotion Kayaks, John Lee, Blake Beltz and Mark Couch, had pre-fished many different locations on the days leading up to the event, and settled on a new spot the morning of the event.

With a slow start and only a 14 inch Flounder caught by noon time, John Lee switched to another spot just after lunch.  It turned out to be the move of the day.  "As the tide starting incoming, I positioned myself on the backside of an oyster bar waiting for the bait".  "Within 15 minutes of the tide changing I had caught 5 Redfish, the largest 25.5” and 7 Trout".  "The largest trout measured 23 inches”.  John Fished DOA white jerk baits and white shad tails for most of the day.

In the end, the top three overall finishers in the slam division were separated by less than one inch, but it was John Lee who posted a total of 62.725 inches and took home the grand prize.  The final results can be viewed on the Forgotten Coast Kayak Anglers website.

Congratulations to Team Emotion Kayaks on another win, all the anglers who participated, and the folks at Forgotten Coast Kayak Anglers for hosting a GREAT EVENT!
